Overnight head-on collision at busy New Bedford intersection

On Sunday night at approximately, 9:45pm, the New Bedford Police Department received a 911 call for a car accident at one of the city’s busy intersections.

Upon arrival at the intersection of Acushnet Avenue and Tarkiln Hill Road, police discovered that a Honda-RV and a Chrysler Mini-Van had a head-on collision and both cars were stuck in the middle of the street. The impact was strong enough to activate airbags in both vehicles and both had significant damage to their front-ends.

The New Bedford Police stated that the injuries were minor in nature and none were serious. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
