Extra Help Needed: Operation Clean Sweep seeks volunteers for special Palmer Island cleanup

image_pdfimage_print

On Wednesday July 14th, starting at 11 a.m., we will be having a special cleanup of Palmer Island.

We need volunteers to help transfer wood debris from the island to the two barges. Operation Clean Sweep has been part of 6-year effort to clean Palmer Island of litter and debris, and this is the final phase of removing the wood from the island.

We will provide a water taxi to bring volunteers to and from the island. The boat will leave from the boat dock at the bottom of Gifford Street in New Bedford, making regular runs to the island starting at 11:00.

We really need some special volunteers to make an environmental difference on Palmer Island. Would you please help us to make a difference? Your time and effort will be greatly appreciated.

Please wear boots or water shoes.
