Former Patriots three-time Super Bowl Champion offensive guard Joe Andruzzi spent time with scholars at Alma del Mar Charter School’s Sarah D. Ottiwell Campus on Friday as appreciation for the school community’s fundraising efforts for the player’s charitable foundation.

The Ottiwell school community raised $1,000 for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, a nonprofit that directly supports cancer patients and their families, as part of their Pink Out Day event in October. Scholars and staff were also encouraged to wear pink to show their support for Faustina De Pina, a beloved Alma teacher, who has been courageously fighting breast cancer this school year.

While visiting Alma on Friday, Joe spoke about why he dedicated his life to service. A cancer survivor himself, Joe knows first hand that it takes a village to support someone undergoing cancer treatments. Joe reflects on how challenging fighting cancer was and the importance of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation providing financial support, transportation, and other services so that the patient can primarily focus on their health and wellness.
