New Bedford Whaling Museum remains OPEN during shutdown

The New Bedford Whaling Museum remains open during the federal government shutdown. Separate and independent of New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, the New Bedford Whaling Museum is a nonprofit institution governed by the Old Dartmouth Historical Society.

Hours of operation: April 1 through October 31: Open Daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday through Sunday). Open until 8:00 p.m. every second Thursday of the month.November 1 through March 31: Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Open until 8:00 p.m. every second Thursday of the month. Open Holiday Mondays. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

General Admission: $14 adult, $12 senior (65+), $9 student (19+), $6 child & youth (6-18 yrs.). Children aged 5 and under are free. Museum members are free.

Established in 1903, the New Bedford Whaling Museum is the world’s most comprehensive museum devoted to the global story of whales, whaling, and the cultural history of the region. A cornerstone attraction within New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park and a park partner, the Museum is located at 18 Johnny Cake Hill in the heart of the city’s historic downtown.
