On May 7, New Bedford Police Gang Unit detectives seized a Glock 45 caliber handgun with four rounds of ammunition while arresting a suspect for carjacking and armed robbery on April 30.

26-year old Ramon Martinez-Colon of 31 Crapo Street was charged with armed robbery, assault, and firearms offenses.

Chief Joseph Cordeiro commended the OCIB, Gang Unit and Detective Division for its proactive policing. “Despite the additional issues relating to the pandemic, officers continue to go after those who threaten the safety of our city. Their work is exceptional during ordinary times and extraordinary during these times,” said Cordeiro.
