New Bedford police seize stolen firearm and arrest two men for trafficking fentanyl

Members of the New Bedford Police Department’s Narcotics and Gang Unit arrested two men in separate cases for trafficking fentanyl and unlawful possession of a firearm.

On Friday, October 25, 2019, members of the Narcotic and Gang Unit were targeting street-level drug activity, when their observations led them to a pursuit and subsequent arrest of 24-year old Justin L. Godoy of New Bedford.

Godoy was observed by Detectives conducting activities consistent with street-level drug sales, which led to a search that yielded 28 grams of fentanyl, $421 in cash and a loaded firearm that was unlawfully possessed and reported stolen. Godoy was arrested and charged with multiple firearm and drug charges. The lead investigator was Detective Lorenzo Gonzalez.

Also, on Friday, October 25, 2019, Detectives from the Narcotic Division concluded an investigation into a fentanyl delivery service operated out of 59 Willow Street, apt 3E, in New Bedford. 29-year old Victor Garcia, Jr. of 59 Willow Street, apt 3E was arrested as a result of the investigation and charged with trafficking fentanyl. 293 grams of fentanyl and $2,600 in cash were located as a result of the search warrant. The lead investigator was Detective Lavar Gilbert.

Both Garcia and Godoy are due to be arraigned in District Court on Monday, October 28.
