New Bedford Police respond to shooting at “Whiskey Lounge,” one injured

At approximately 7:00pm pm Sunday night the New Bedford Police Department received 911 calls of a reported shooting on Acushnet Avenue.

First-responders arrived at the corner of Tinkham Street and Acushnet Avenue in front of the Whiskey Lounge. Police learned that the victim of the shooting decided to not wait for an ambulance and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital by a private vehicle, possibly a friend or family member.

Eyewitnesses on scene stated that the incident began when an individual inside of the lounge was asked to leave the premises for unknown reasons.

At this time there is no evidence that the shooting has anything to do with the establishment.

This is a developing story and more details will be added thorughout the day.
