New Bedford Police report operating at decreased staffing for second time in a week

“On Saturday, the New Bedford Police Department once again operated at a decreased staffing level per order of the Chief of Police. They reported the same less than a week ago.

Information regarding updated written policies and procedures or updated, documented, plans of action to address current staffing concerns and call response may be directed to the New Bedford Police Department Office of the Chief of Police at 508-991-6300.

Questions regarding the vacant number of assignments or vacant area patrol units should be directed to Office of the Chief of Police as well.

The purpose of this notice is to keep city residents and visitors aware of the decrease in the number of officers on the street and a possible decrease in the expected level of service promised to them by city officials.”-New Bedford Police Union.
