New Bedford Police issue $74,500 in tickets during Sunday’s winter storm

During New Bedford’s emergency parking ban, the New Bedford Police Department issued 1,490 parking tickets totaling $74,500 in fines. The police department also had 83 vehicles towed. During the last parking ban on Jan 31, 2020, 550 parking tickets totaling $27,500 in fines.

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell issued a city-wide parking ban that started Sunday. The New Bedford police department issues $50 fines per violation and tows vehicles that disrupt snow plowing operations.
