New Bedford police arrest two for heroin trafficking

Last evening at approximately 6pm members of the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau concluded an investigation into a heroin delivery service being conducted in the city of New Bedford.
Detective Kurt Dreher had obtained a search warrant for a 1998 Ford F-150 belonging to Kevin Secia.

new-bedford-drug-bustNarcotics detectives stopped the vehicle on Route 88 near County Rd. in Westport. The truck stopped briefly before taking off again and came to complete stop a short distance later. Detectives went back to the initial stop and found that 157 grams of heroin had been tossed from the vehicle onto the side of the road. The heroin has a street value of approximately $15,000.

The suspect’s girlfriend, Andrea Leitao, was in the vehicle and she was also placed under arrest. Also seized during the search was $2,515 in cash.

Both suspects will be arraigned this morning in New Bedford District Ct. They are facing heroin trafficking, as well as, conspiracy charges.
