New Bedford police arrest takes firearm, ammunition, marijuana, cocaine off streets

Members of the New Bedford Police Department gang and narcotics units took a .25 caliber firearm with ten rounds of ammunition in the magazine off the street Thursday, as well as nearly 22 grams of marijuana, five grams of cocaine and four grams of crack cocaine, as part of an investigation into a marijuana distribution service out of 46 Winsper St., Apt. 3.

Daniel Rodriguez, 40, of 46 Winsper St., Apt. 3, New Bedford, was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Police executed a search warrant Thursday at the property and discovered a .25 caliber Valor Corp. firearm, a magazine with 10 rounds of .25 caliber ammunition, seven loose rounds of .25 caliber ammunition, 21.8 grams of marijuana, 4.7 grams of cocaine, 3.9 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, packaging materials and $1,369 in cash.

He was arraigned Friday. Bail was set at $500.
