New Bedford man charged after $20,000 of heroin and cocaine found in vehicle

A 22-year-old New Bedford man was arrested on multiple charges Wednesday at 7:53 a.m. after about $20,000 worth of heroin, marijuana and cocaine were found in his vehicle after he was involved in a minor accident near Durfee and Mt. Pleasant streets.

Nathaniel Ojuri, 22, of 32 Court St., New Bedford, was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in heroin, OUI drugs, failure to stay to the right of the center lane, possession of open container of alcohol, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.

Police were called at 6:55 a.m. for a motor vehicle accident. As a result of the accident investigation, police found 98 grams of cocaine, 56 grams of heroin, a bag of suspected crack/cocaine, a two-pound bag of marijuana, a scale, a cutting blade, bags and a small amount of cash in the Volvo that Ojuri was operating.

Ojuri was suspected to be under the influence of drugs at the time and charged accordingly.
