New Bedford Fire Department visits Elizabeth Carter Brooks School to teach fire safety

image_pdfimage_print

“Elizabeth Carter Brooks students learned all about fire safety with the help of some of our local firefighters from the New Bedford Fire Department.

They learned about the importance of smoke detectors and establishing a family safety plan, how to ensure smoke detectors are working properly, and the difference between toys (objects meant for kids) and tools (objects meant for grown ups, such as matches and lighters).

They also practiced some life-saving skills like how to stop, drop, and roll and how to stay low and crawl to safety.

A huge thank you to the New Bedford fire department for helping our students and school community feel a whole lot safer.” -New Bedford Public Schools.
