At approximately 2:15pm today, the New Bedford Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire.
Engines responded to 198 Belleville Road to find a triple-decker on fire. Flames were visible on the third floor coming through a skylight and observed fire damage on the porch and roof. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. Unfortunately, 9 people were displace, 5 of who were children.
The New Bedford Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the fire. As of 5:00pm there were no reported injuries. We’ll update the story when more information becomes available.
