All total, $353,600 was awarded to 44 non-profits in all the communities in which the Bank serves. Seven New Bedford and Dartmouth Non Profits Receive $64,000 in Grants

Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB), through its charitable foundation, awarded $64,000 to seven non-profit organizations in the New Bedford/Dartmouth area during a ceremony that recently took place at the Holiday Inn Taunton. All total, the Bank presented $353,600 in grants to 44 organizations in the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth region, the Fall River region, the Taunton/Attleboro region and the greater Pawtucket, Rhode Island region and surpassed $22 million in total charitable commitments given since the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation’s (BCSCF) inception in 1996.

The organizations in the New Bedford/Dartmouth region that received grants from the Foundation are as follows: Child & Family Services ($4,000); Entrepreneurship for All, Inc. ($5,000); Kennedy Donovan Center ($20,000); New Bedford Art Museum ($10,000); New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center ($5,000); New Bedford Historical Society ($10,000); and Waterfront Historic Area League of New Bedford, Inc. ($10,000). Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President of the BCSCF and President & CEO of BCSB, awarded the grants to the organizations. Also participating were Kristine Cunningham, Assistant Chief of Staff to Jon Mitchell, Mayor, City of New Bedford, and representatives from the BCSCF advisory board and the Bank’s area branches.

“Our mission is to support the communities we serve by making them a better place to live and work,” said Murray. “Though our investments in local charitable organizations, combined with our community partnerships and volunteer activities, we do our best to fulfill that purpose.”

Bristol County Savings Bank is an active supporter in the communities in which it serves. The Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary celebration. Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in the greater Taunton/Attleboro region, the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth region, the Fall River region and the greater Pawtucket, Rhode Island region, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population.
