Two people were arrested and a firearm and ammunition were taken off the street Wednesday after the New Bedford Police Department narcotics division executed a search warrant as part of an investigation into a cocaine distribution service being operated out of 492 Rivet St. Apt. 3.
Police seized 12.6 grams of crack cocaine and $1,092 in cash.
Dominic Jordan Barrett, 30, of 492 Rivet St. Apt. 3, was charged with possession of a class B substance (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute, possession of a class B substance (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute, subsequent offense based on a 2008 conviction, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Jasmine A. Carrasquillo, 24, of 492 Rivet St. Apt. 3, was charged with possession of a class B substance (crack cocaine), possession of a class B substance (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, improperly storing a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession a firearm without an identification card.
The firearm charges against Ms. Carrasquillo resulted when, after further investigation, detectives were able to seize a firearm and ammunition at another location in the city. Police seized a Smith and Wesson .357 revolver, 62 rounds of ammunition and a digital scale.
The two were transported to the Ash Street jail and were scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at Third District Court.
