On Saturday, October 19, at 4:00pm, the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra presents Entrancing Showpieces at St. Julie Billiart Church in North Dartmouth, immediately followed by Dinner with the Symphony at the nearby Country Club of New Bedford.

The concert opens with Alberto Ginastera’s Variaciones Concertantes, which features demanding solos from many of the orchestra’s principal players. Featured guest artist harpsichordist Paul Cienniwa will then treat concertgoers to the elegance and profundity of Bach’s Concerto No. 4 for Harpsichord. Mr. Cienniwa has a burgeoning career as a soloist, recording artist and ensemble player. He is Chorus Master of the NBSO, directs the chorus at Framingham State university, teaches at UMass Dartmouth, and serves as music director at First Church in Boston. The concert program closes with the energy, creativity, power and beauty of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2. You won’t want to miss a chance to experience this masterpiece up close and personal.

Concert tickets are $40, students always $10; available through the Z box office: 508-994-2900. St. Julie Billiart Church is located at 494 Slocum Road. Ample parking is available, and the church is fully handicap accessible.

Immediately following the concert, you are cordially invited to attend the NBSO’s annual Dinner with the Symphony, where you can enjoy a special opportunity to dine with NBSO musicians seated at your table. Proceeds from the event support our educational programs and concert series. Dinner tickets are $75 per person; sponsor a musician for $50. A limited number of tickets are available. Please call the NBSO for more information at 508-999-6276.
