New Bedford Police Officer honored at State House

New Bedford Police Officer Jordan Ferreira was honored with the Superintendent’s Commendation at a State House ceremony Oct. 24 for his actions in apprehending two men fleeing the scene of a shooting earlier this year.

He was commended for his work on April 6, when he responded to a shooting at Chancery and Court streets. Officer Ferreira was instrumental in the apprehension of two men who were fleeing the scene.

The men were in possession of a loaded .357 firearm. A loaded 9 mm firearm was also recovered from the scene as a result of the investigation.

The two men were charged in connection with the shooting. Two victims were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital. They survived their injuries.
