National Weather Service issues Flash Flood Watch for MA and RI

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including the following areas, in Massachusetts, Barnstable, Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester. In Rhode Island, Bristol, Kent, Newport, Providence, and Washington.

* From Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night
* Periods of showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected Wednesday into Wednesday night with pockets of localized torrential rainfall. Hourly rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible with the strongest storms, which may lead to localized flash flooding if storms train over the same areas.
