“Shortly after 8 p.m. yesterday Troopers assigned to the State Police Troop D Community Action Team were on patrol on Oak Street in Brockton.

At that time they observed a Dodge pickup truck with defective brake lights traveling toward Battles Street. As the vehicle turned onto Battles Street the Troopers activated the cruisers blue lights and initiated a motor vehicle stop.

Upon the vehicle coming to a full stop the Troopers approached it and spoke to three occupants seated inside. Troopers observed that the front seat passenger was not wearing a seatbelt then attempted to identify him, however, they were provided false information. The passenger was removed from the vehicle and questioned. While questioning the passenger Troopers discovered he was in possession of a loaded pistol. He was identified as TYREECE DEPINA, 19, of Brockton, and did not possess a license to carry firearms.

DEPINA was secured in handcuffs while Troopers searched a cross strap fanny pack in his possession. They located a loaded Colt .32 cal revolver, numerous rounds of ammunition, and a small baggie containing a substance suspected to be crack cocaine. Additionally, a computer inquiry of the serial number on the firearm revealed it was reported stolen to police in Georgia. DEPINA was placed under arrest and seated in the rear of a cruiser.

No other weapons or narcotics were located in the vehicle or in the possession of the remaining two occupants. The operator was issued a warning for the defective brake light and allowed to leave the scene with the passenger. DEPINA was transported to State Police-Middleboro for booking. A bail commissioner was contacted and set bail at $500, which he was able to post.

DEPINA was scheduled for arraignment at Brockton District Court on the following charges:
1. Illegal Possession of a Firearm;
2. Possession of a Firearm without FID Card;
3. Possession of Ammunition without FID Card;
4. Possession of a Class B Substance;
5. Carrying a Loaded Firearm; and
6. Receiving Stolen Property.”
