Massachusetts State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Lakeville

Today at about 5:50 a.m., State Police from the Dartmouth Barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 140 North between Exits 8 and 9 in Lakeville which resulted in one fatality.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Christopher Meleo indicates that a 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling on Route 140 northbound north of Exit 8 in Lakeville when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver, a 50-year-old man from Wareham was determined to be deceased at the scene.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Lakeville Fire and EMS, Freetown Police, State Medical Examiner and Mass DOT.

There is no additional information available at this time. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
