Massachusetts Environmental Police seize 50 conch/whelk pots set in closed season

“Officers onboard the Patrol Boat Jessie observed approximately fifty conch/whelk pots set within Buzzards Bay.

It is prohibited to take whelk by pots or set/abandon any gear during the closed season (‪December 15th through April 15th‬). The gear was hauled and removed; the trapped whelks were alive and released back to the waters. The investigation remains ongoing.” -Massachusetts Environmental Police.
