Lowell Police Department responds to apparent murder-suicide

“Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Barry Golner have confirmed that on December 25, 2022 at approximately 1:38 p.m. Lowell Police responded to a home on Beacon Street. Upon arrival police located a 60-year-old male and a 55-year-old female, husband and wife, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation suggested that the male, identified as Jose Santiago, shot his wife, Rosa Santiago, before fatally shooting himself.

Yesterday the office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted autopsies on the bodies and determined the manner of death for Jose Santiago to be suicide and the manner of death for Rosa Santiago to be a homicide.

This investigation is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Lowell Police and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.”-Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
