Local Financial Institutions Collaborate to End Homelessness In New Bedford

Rise Up for Homes is a collaborative campaign established by the members of New Bedford’s Homeless Service Providers Network [HSPN]. It was designed to build community awareness as well as raise funds to meet the complex needs of homeless individuals and families in our community. In the efforts to bring awareness to the dire homelessness situation, local credit unions and banks partnered together to share the message across the city in a big way.

For the months of January and February, First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union, St. Anne’s Credit Union, BayCoast Bank and Southern Mass Credit Union donated their billboard space to bring awareness about homelessness across the city and raise funds for the New Bedford Emergency Overflow Shelter at the Sister Rose House.

“Rise Up for Homes relies on the support of our community and local businesses to find lasting solutions to the challenges of homelessness”, said Peter Muise, President & CEO of First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union. “The donation of billboards from these institutions speak volumes to their dedication to end homelessness in our city.”

Costing approximately $475 per night to open the Emergency Overflow Shelter, every dollar helps. To donate, visit www.riseupforhomes.com/donate or text RISEUP to 50155. If you or someone you know is homeless or at risk, please call 1-800-Homeless.
