KofC Fishing Derby-Get Hooked on Fishing, Not Drugs on August 1st

There’s nothing like spending a morning fishing to relax you.

The Knights of Columbus, Father Hogan Council is holding their annual Get Hooked on Fishing, Not Drugs!!! Fishing Derby on Saturday, August 1 from 7-10am. The derby is intended for ages: 6-16 but all area residents are welcome. Registration is free and bait will be provided. Kids must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The derby location is Mello’s Pond. 1 mile west of UMass Dartmouth near 555 Old Westport Road. The events goal is to bring area kids and residents together to have fun and remind everyone of the importance of saying no to drugs and helping those in the community.

The Knights of Columbus is a Roman Catholic fraternal service organization with approximately 16,000 councils and 1.9 million members. There are also roughly 200 councils on college campuses as well. The Knights participate in many charitable events and work with a variety of nonprofit groups to support the community. The Knights of Columbus stand for four core principles which are charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. The Knights of Columbus Father Hogan Council serve the Dartmouth parishes of St. Julies and St. Mary’s.
