Head-on collision between vehicles in Bourne, leaves four with serious injuries

At approximately 1:30pm on Wednesday Massachusetts State Police and Bourne Police received 911 calls reporting an accident on Route 6, near the Seafood Shanty.

Upon arrival, first-responder discovered two vehicles virtually destroyed.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle not involved in the accident was stopped and preparing to turn left into the Seafood Shanty when a black pickup truck traveling in the same direction attempted to avoid rear ending the stopped car by swerving into the oncoming traffic lane. The black pickup truck then collided head-on with a red pickup truck.

The portiong of Rt. 6 where the accident occured is two lanes with traffic being separated by lines in the median.

Injured were a a 71-year-old male from Bourne, a 48-year-old man from Wareham, a 64-year-old male from Sandwich who were transported to various hospitals with serious injuries, and a 58-year-old male from Plymouth who had to be med-flighted by helicopter to a hospital trauma center.

None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

    I was in traffic due to this accident and saw what was left of the vehicles. It’s a miracle they survived this. ?
