City of New Bedford, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Flag-Raising Ceremony

“A delegation of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick will join Mayor Jon Mitchell and other elected state and local officials for a ceremony to raise the national flag of Ireland at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 17th, at City Hall in downtown New Bedford.

The St. Patrick’s Day flag-raising is an annual event that celebrates the many achievements, contributions, and successes of Irish Americans.

The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick is a nonprofit fraternal organization in New Bedford that’s dedicated to increasing awareness of the cultural achievements of the Irish. Each year, the organization sponsors scholarships for deserving local high school students and contributes generously to local and regional causes.”
