On Monday, April 8, at about 11:50 a.m. Wareham Police Officer Charles Pillsbury was on an off-duty detail on Main Street and was approached by an individual in a car asking for directions. Officer Pillsbury made observations of the driver and asked for an on-duty officer to respond to his location at Besse Park.
Officer Joseph Cardoza arrived and after having the driver perform field sobriety tests, the man was placed under arrest.
Jose Rego, 47, of New Bedford, is charged with, operating under the influence, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
