State Police Investigating Double-Fatal Crash in Quincy

Massachusetts State Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash on Route 28 in Quincy that has resulted in fatalities of two occupants. A third occupant of the vehicle has been transported to a Boston hospital.

Troopers responded to the crash at 1:27 am and found the vehicle engulfed in flames. Two of the three occupants were determined to be deceased on scene.

The location of the crash scene is Route 28 between Route 93 and Chickatawbut Road.

The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and MSP detectives.

Route 28 is closed at the crash scene and may remain closed for several hours.

UPDATE:

Preliminary investigation indicates that the car was traveling northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it failed to negotiate a curve in the road.

The car went off the road to the right, struck a tree, then came back into the road post-impact. At some point during the collision the car caught on fire.

The driver and front seat passenger were trapped in the car and suffered fatal injuries. The rear-seat passenger was transported to Boston Medical Center.

The road was reopened at approximately 5:40 am. No further information is being released at this time.
