Debra Cowan to present free concert of Maritime Ballads at National Park

Maritime Ballads at National Park Summer Concert Series

The 2014 Thursdays in the Park Concert Series continues with a performance of maritime ballads on Thursday evening, August 14, 2014 from 6:30-7:30 PM. The free concert takes place in New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park’s garden, 33 William Street, downtown New Bedford. In the event of inclement weather the performance will be moved indoors to the National Park theater.

With a voice that blends Celtic and Appalachian styles, Debra Cowan performs a cappella and with guitar, interpreting a wide range of traditional and contemporary folk songs. Her performances reflect a range of human experiences, both serious and comedic, and encourage audience participation. Based near Worcester, Massachusetts, Debra tours extensively in the USA and United Kingdom and has shared the stage with artists as varied Richard Shindell and John Renbourne.
