Downtown New Bedford convenience store robbed at gunpoint, clerk assaulted

Shortly after noon time Costa’s Cash Express at 211 Union St. was robbed at gunpoint. The clerk was struck in the face with a silver handgun. She suffered a cut to the lip area.

Two males entered the business, demanded cash, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. They both fled easterly on Union St. but may have split up at Pleasant St.

Suspect #1- (had gun) light skinned black male approx. 5-9 and thin build

– Wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt
– Black shorts
– Black sneakers

Suspect #2- dark skinned black male approx. 5-10 and thin build

– Wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt
– Baggy jeans
