“Yesterday at noon, 911 calls were received reporting smoke extending from the interior walls of the 3rd floor apartment at 18 Bullard Street. The tenants were alerted by a working fire alarm system. This structure contains three dwelling units.

Fire crews advanced two hose lines to the third floor apartment, contained the fire to the kitchen, and prevented fire extension into the attic. The attic space was accessed via a pencil ladder.

No civilians or firefighters were injured. Nine adults and six children were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The fire cause is being investigated by the NBFD Fire Investigation Unit and is under investigation.

NBPD, NBEMA, and NBEMS assisted at the scene.”-New Bedford Fire Department.
