Arrest made in Dublin’s Sports Bar stabbing

An arrest has been made in the stabbing that took place last week at Dublin’s Sports Bar. The victim was released from Rhode Island Hospital on Tuesday and is home recovering.

Detectives William Westgate and William Sauve obtained an arrest warrant yesterday afternoon for Robert Geliga after a weeklong investigation.

This morning at approximately 6:30am New Bedford detectives assisted by Trooper David Reis of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) took him into custody without incident at his Richmond Street apartment where he has been residing.

He is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court on Armed Assault and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon charges.
