Alzheimer’s Art Show and Movie Screening in New Bedford Open to the Public

The Southeastern Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Partnership in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter will host a free screening of the documentary The Genius of Marian and an art show. The event will take place Thursday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts Star Shore Building, 715 Purchase Street, New Bedford.

The Genius of Marian is a deeply intimate documentary that explores Alzheimer’s disease, the power of art and the meaning of family. The film follows Pam White in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease as her son, the filmmaker, documents her struggle to hang on to a sense of self .

Artwork created by individuals diagnosed with dementia will also be on display for the event. The screening is free and open to the public, to RSVP contact Patricia Midurski at 508-992-6278 or pmidurski@communitynurse.com.
