3rd Annual Veteran’s Appreciation Banquet

The brothers of Sigma Tau Gamma proudly invite you to the 3rd annual Veteran’s Appreciation Banquet. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the Gold Star Mothers of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, who have supported the nation’s veterans and the families of our fallen heroes since 1928. The importance of taking time out of our lives to honor those who have served our country is of the utmost importance to us.

Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity was founded in 1920 in Warrensburg, Missouri, by a group of World War I Veterans. These men endured unimaginably horrific events but overcame their plights by bonding with their fellow medics and developing a set of principles and standards to which they held themselves. These principles are the foundation upon which our fraternity operates.

We believe that it is fundamentally necessary to honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces. All too often our veterans are not given the recognition and appreciation they deserve from the people whose rights they fought to protect. Our goal is to remind the people in our community that it is our responsibility to honor our country’s veterans. Freedom isn’t free.

The Veterans Appreciation Banquet is open to all who wish to take part in the honoring of our fallen soldiers, active duty military personnel, and the families who support our heroes.

Each ticket purchased includes a three course meal sponsored by the university’s Student Senate and Student Affairs departments. Their generosity allows us to donate 100% of the event’s ticket sales as well as the total sum of the fraternity’s fundraising efforts to the Gold Star Mothers of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Tickets are $10 for students and veterans, and $20 for everyone else.  The efforts of the last two years have raised $7,000, and our sights are set on continuing to surpass the successes of our past contributions.

We hope you will join us in honoring our heroes on Sunday, April 17th, at 1:00 P.M. in the Woodland Commons conference hall at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.
