The New Bedford Fire Department released training footage of recruit class 01-23 to highlight the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming a firefighter. The recruit class is composed of twenty-three members of the New Bedford, Taunton, Somerset, and Lakeville Fire Departments.

This footage was taken at the New Bedford Fire Department Training Facility which is an important resource for training current and future firefighters in the area.

“The coordinated fire attack scenarios consisted of single room fires, multiple room fires, fires on multiple floors, fires involving search and rescue of trapped occupants, and fires combined with evacuation drills.

Each scenario included arriving on scene, placing apparatus, securing a water supply, proper hose line deployment, search and rescue techniques, ventilation, and overhaul.

Fire Instructors from each department participated in the nine week academy and have imparted the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful firefighters.” – NBFD

“Here’s another video of Recruit Class 01-23 fighting fires on multiple floors. These videos are a great opportunity for the residents of the four communities to observe the training their firefighter recruits experience to prepare them for their firefighting career.” – NBFD
