21-year old crashes into two cars on Church Street sending four to hospital

New Bedford Police have charged 21-year old Mason Medeiros of New Bedford with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Early Saturday morning at approximately 01:00am Officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the area of 1005 Church Street. When Officers arrived they observed three vehicles with major damage and debris from the damaged vehicles scattered throughout. The investigation revealed that Medeiros was operating his vehicle at a high rate of speed north on Church Street. His vehicle then swerved into the south bound lane and struck two parked vehicles. One of the vehicles was struck so hard that it was moved approximately 60 feet and came to rest on several arborvitaes on the property of 1011 Church Street.

The vehicle that Medeiros was operating had three passengers one was a 22 year old female, a 21 and 23 year old male. The parked vehicles were unoccupied. All four parties in Medeiros’ vehicle were taken to Rhode Island Hospital. Their injuries do not appear life threatening.
