In terms of temperature we have quite the pleasant weekend in store. We’ll be in the low 70s throughout the entire weekend with overnight lows of 50 degrees. Cool mornings and evenings! While we may have a shower on Saturday afternoon, it will generally be sunny. Seize the day and take part in the many goings-on in the South Coast and beyond!

Welcome to Painting with a Splash Where you are the artist! Painting with a Splash is the newest addition to Historic Whaling City Downtown New Bedford. Bringing you an experience of art as entertainment. Add a little wine (BYOB) that will surely tap into your creative side. With step by step instruction and a little music, you and your friends will create the evenings featured painting with a splash of your own uniqueness. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Just a desire to have fun.

UMass Film: “The Iran Job” (7:30-8:30pm)
UMass Dartmouth’s Series of International Films presents by the College of Arts and Science to continue with “The Iran Job,” FREE. All films are screened 7:30 p.m. and shown in Room 153, CVPA. 285 Old Westport Road.

 


Saturday, September 13th

Medical and Edible Plants at Haskell’s (9:00am-11:00am)

70th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden (9:00am-4:00pm)
The Fort Taber Fort Rodman Historical Association, Inc. in cooperation with the City of New Bedford are sponsoring a living history camp Saturday, September 13 and Sunday 14, 2014 to recognize the 70th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden, a World War II battle fought in the Netherlands between September 17 – 25, 1944. The camp will be open, free to the public, from 9 to 4 each day. Re-enactors represent both Allied and German soldiers will provide a living history camp inside Fort Rodman (Stone Fort) at the City’s Fort Taber Park. It’s Grandparent’s Weekend at Edaville!

Silverbrook ACUSHNET Country Store (9:00am-8:00pm)
SWEET CORN HAS ARRIVED! The Silverbrook Country Store is the home of The Pereia Bread Co. (a tasty little division of Silverbrook Farm) where they make their Famous Pies and Breads, as well as jams, sauces and other great food products. It is also the home of their Farm Stand that is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday. Silverbrook Country Store also has a wonderful and unique line of crafts including their popular candle/potpourri items and a great selection of handmade Amish items that truly make great gifts for any occasion.

Edaville’s Grandparents Weekend (10:00am-5:00pm)
Following National Grandparents Day, come to Edaville and celebrate even more with all sorts of family activities and fun through the whole park. These special days include unlimited use of the park, including dinoland and a 20 minute train ride through the picturesque woodlands and cranberry bogs. All rides and attractions are included in general park admission, so guests will be able to visit Dinoland and also enjoy unlimited use of all park amusements. General admission will be $20, with half price admission to all Grandparents, free entrance to guests under the age of 2, and $17 for seniors.

Oktoberfest 2014 (Marion) (11:00am-10:00pm)
Professional entertainment all day, German food, pastries, soft drinks and beer served all day. The Pythagorean Lodge AF & AM located at 13 Spring Street Marion is sponsoring its first annual Oktoberfest for the purposes of raising money to support its charitable work in the community. 3rd Annual Katie Brienzo Walk (11:00am-FINISH)
Join us on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Our Lady of Angels Feast Grounds, located at 7 Jesse Street, Fairhaven for the 3rd ANNUAL KATIE BRIENZO MEMORIAL WALK!!! The walk is approximately 1.5 miles. Registration is $15 ($20 on Walk Day) and the First 100 to register receive a free Katie Brienzo Memorial Walk T-shirt. ALL proceeds from this event benefit the consumers of M.O.L.I.F.E., Inc., Katie’s favorite charity. Katie was also a consumer at M.O.L.I.F.E. and it was her home away from home. The staff there helped her not just overcome her disability, but to thrive as an independent young woman.

As Fall migration picks up we’ll be exploring some of Fairhaven’s best places to see warblers and other migrating birds.

The Women Run – The Sanity Chase (9:30am-4:00pm)
The Women Run – The Sanity Chase is this Sunday in Newport! It’s a 4.4 mile timed Road Race and a 4 mile obstacle course; run, paddle board, rock climb, hula hoop, tricycle and slide. 30-minute waves from 9:30 am – 1:30pm.
