Woman steals wallet at New Bedford Market Basket register

Yesterday morning at approximately 11am a New Bedford woman was shopping at Market Basket at 122 Sawyer St. Upon checking out she accidentally left her wallet by the register. She immediately returned to the area but the wallet was gone. It contained cash, identifications, and personal information.

Video surveillance shows the pictured female taking the wallet and leaving the store.

Anyone with information on her identity is asked to contact Officer Greg Sirois at 508-991-6360 or leave an anonymous tip at 508-961-4584.

      Don’t people understand that these days there are camera’s everywhere! Beside’s that she was probably I’m back of her in line or nearby to see that wallet was there. And the cashier’s need to pay more attention and not talk to everyone all the time. I worked in a grocery store for years and have given back a few wallets …

    Yes…Blame the cashier. She or he needs to.babysit you while your infront of her for 2 mins…get real.

  3. That women needs to go to jail. It’s not the cashier’s fault. The lady that left in error was distracted by her child. If you have a child that easily happens.

  4. Maybe, just maybe, the woman took the wallet to return it.

  5. If this woman paid in cash, I can understand your not being able to find her. BUT if she paid with a credit card, debit card, or EBT, you should be able to catch the woman based on her transaction.
