October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes and they all have different powers. You have the power to help create a world without type one diabetes (T1D)!

This October the JDRF Southern New England Branch will host its first Walk to Cure Diabetes in the Southcoast of Massachusetts at New Bedford’s own Buttonwood Park. We are expecting more than 500 Walkers to take to the streets at Buttonwood as participants in this year’s Walk to Cure Diabetes with the hopes of raising more than $50,250 for diabetes research.

While most walks are an effective way of raising money, JDRF Walk goes one step further. Our Walk Day is a celebration of what our families, corporate partners and volunteers have done throughout the year. In addition to celebrating successes, we strive to raise the funds that will eventually eliminate diabetes.

The theme for our 2014 Walk to Cure Diabetes is “Super Heroes Unite” and we are hoping you will join us. More than three million Americans have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and they are all in a race to find a cure. As a leader in the Southcoast community I wanted to appeal to you to support this vital event here in Southeastern MA.

Will you help us raise the funds needed to find a CURE for diabetes by promoting this event on your website and Facebook page?

With the summer almost over, that means that Walk Day is right around the corner—with your help we will surpass all of our goals and will be that much closer to finding the CURE that we are all searching for.
