Police Seek Public Assistance in Locating Vehicle Involved in New Bedford Hit & Run

State and New Bedford Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle involved in a non-fatal hit and run during he overnight hours this morning.

This morning at approximately 2:10 AM, a royal blue colored SUV (possibly a BMW X5 or similarly shaped SUV) with multiple occupants inside, struck a pedestrian in the roadway of Route 18 North in New Bedford near the Route 195 on-ramps. The vehicle fled the scene of the crash, taking the on-ramp and entering Route 195 west. The pedestrian suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. The victim is an unidentified adult male. He was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford before being transferred to Rhode island Hospital in Providence.

Police are requesting the help of the public in identifying the vehicle and its driver. The SUV should have front-end damage and may have a leaking radiator.
