On Friday, May 8, the public is invited to the Dedee Shattuck Gallery for a free recital by internationally acclaimed cellist Jesus Castro-Balbi. The recital will begin at 5:30pm. Mr. Castro-Balbi will play for approximately 45 minutes. The Gallery is located at 865 Main Road, Westport, MA 02790.
Mr. Castro-Balbi is in town for his guest appearance with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra on May 9 at the NBSO’s season finale performance. The Enchanted Places concert is at 7:30pm on Saturday evening at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in downtown New Bedford. Tickets are $25‒$60 and can be purchased through the Z box office, 508-994-2900, or online at www.nbsymphony.org. ($10 student tickets are not available online.) Free and convenient concert parking is available in the Z garage. Prior to the performance, Dr. David MacKenzie’s will present a pre-concert talk at 6:30pm in the Penler Space (adjoining The Z), free and open to the public.
