The second of three New Bedford Open Studios (NBOS) events will be held at Ropeworks, 123 Sawyer Street on October 5 & 6, 2013. The studios will be open 11am to 6pm on both days, with a Soapbox Social (a storytelling party) on Saturday evening at 7pm. Ropeworks Open Studios is a free event where artists will open their studios to show, perform, demonstrate and sell their art work.
The Ropeworks Open Studios free event will include fine art, sound and sculpture installations, aerial demonstrations and mini-lessons with a special “True Stories” edition of The Soapbox Social on Saturday evening at 7pm. Come and tell a true story (any story!) about “The Fall”. The Ropeworks Open Studios will feature a wide range of fine art, wearable art, and performance art.
The weekend’s featured artists are: Andrew Anello, Carolyn Baker, Adam Buck, Tracy Silva Barbosa, Meredith Birch, Shelley Cardoos, Maura Cronin (Moontide Dyers), Stephen Denton, Cynthia Guild, Dan Kamman, Frani Keeley, Nicole Monforti, Joan Potkay, Carl Simmons, James Soares, Jodi Stevens, Melanie Ungvarsky. Their work will include: paintings, printmaking, sound/ art installations, clothing design, sculpture, glass and metal jewelry. Come engage with the artists, relax among friends in “Fern’s Fiddle Garden”, and experience the inspiring architecture of the historic Ropeworks Live/Work Studios.
