New Bedford Man Shot in the Back in South End

On Wednesday evening (4/16/14) at approximately 11pm south end officers were sent to 25 Mosher St. regarding a male that was shot in the back.

Upon arrival the officers observed the victim lying in the second floor hallway suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Rhode Island hospital by ambulance where he is currently listed in critical condition. Detectives have not been able to interview him as of yet due to his medical condition. He did however state to initial responding officers that he had gone outside to smoke a cigarette when he was shot by an unknown male.

There were approximately seven people in the second floor apartment at the time “just hanging out”. It was this second floor apartment that the victim was visiting.The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Michael Carrier at 508-991-6300 ext. 114.
