New Bedford police arrest Roxbury man with over 100 grams of fentanyl

New Bedford Police Department narcotics unit has taken 120 grams of fentanyl off the streets. Police arrested Juan Velez, 29, of 1140 Harrison Ave. Apt. 3, Roxbury, Thursday for trafficking in fentanyl over 100 grams.

The arrest was the result of an investigation by Detective Jarrod Garcia into the suspect selling fentanyl through a delivery service in New Bedford. Police pulled Velez over on Aquidneck Street. Velez was found in possession of about 120 grams of fentanyl and $361.

On Tuesday, New Bedford made an arrest of a Rhode Island man after discovering a hidden compartment in his vehicle containing 66 grams of fentanyl. Details here
