Since 2006, Sharing the Harvest Community Farm has grown and donated more than 207,000 pounds of fresh, healthy produce to be donated to our community neighbors in need.

Sharing the Harvest Community Farm in Dartmouth, MA is seeking an Americorps*VISTA Farm Education Specialist. The position is a one-year capacity building project to help the farm build an education program to supplement our hunger relief initiatives. Learn more and apply here.

Farm Education Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen our educational capacity and education partnerships to build capacity for the program.
  • Develop materials and research local opportunities to provide agriculture, healthy food and food availability education (potentially including educating field trips that visit the farm, travelling to local schools for classroom presentations, and educating community groups in our beneficiary area).
  • Build a database of materials, best practices, information and resources so that agricultural and food education efforts continue after their tenure has passed.
  • Work with our food security partners to help develop a community assessment of food resources available in our region.
  • The FES would be crucial to helping people understand why we operate the farm and why local food is important to local health, both in body and community.

Coordinate and/or oversee all energy data related to the office’s activities. This includes, but not limited to, verifying and integrating the savings attributed the City’s energy efficiency efforts, the appropriate assignment of solar net metering credits and the tracking of our electric vehicle charging station use into a common database. Activities include updating the Mass Energy Insight tool and data population into EPA’s Portfolio Manager.

Key Activities:

  • Oversee development of Energy Data Monitoring and Oversight Data Strategy as well as assist in the broader Strategic Energy Plan for the City
  • Develop information resources; maintain an energy database for all City operations to provide baselines for energy use and savings analysis

  • Oversee implementation of data management program, including efficiency, solar and transportation activities
  • Manage related budgets
  • Coordinate data gathering protocols between and align efforts amongst City departments, State, for-profit business partners, utility companies and other key stakeholders
