POSITION: CASHIER
LEVEL: GRADE 4 $12.21/hr – $17.14/hr
DEPARTMENT: ZOO

FUNCTION: Receives and disburses funds from customers and employees and records monetary transactions. Issues change and cashes checks. Counts money to verify amounts and issues receipts for funds received. Completes credit card transactions for customers.

Compares totals on cash register with amount of currency in register to verify balances. Posts data to accounts and balances receipts and disbursements.

Operates office machines, such as calculator, bookkeeping and check-writing machines.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Cash register, computer, typewriter, telephone, copy & fax machines.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS: Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, odors, etc. Intermittent standing to assist customers or other staff members. Frequent interruptions to assist customers in the office or on the phone.

Joe’s convenience store robbed at knifepoint on Sunday

On Sunday afternoon at approximately 1pm Joe’s convenience store at 1890 Acushnet Ave. was robbed at knifepoint. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect entered the store and demanded money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, on foot, westerly on Clifford St.

POSITION: Girls Exclusive Instructor
STATEMENT of DUTIES: Responsible for planning and operation of Girls Exclusive Programs.
SUPERVISION: Reports to Director of Programs and Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accepts responsibility for implementing the Mission of the YWCA. Works with Director of Programs and Services to implement programs for adolescents.
  • Completes and submits required reports and data collection.
    Plans, implements and supervises Girls Exclusive at off site locations in Southeastern Massachusetts.
  • Attends local community resource fairs representing Youth Services.
  • Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, trainings as required.
  • Other job-related duties and responsibilities may be assigned and/or the job description may change periodically to reflect changing organization needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree preferred in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old with experience in adolescent programming.
  • Excellent oral and written communication ability.
  • Good judgment with the ability to act independently in representing the YWCA
  • Dependability, accountability, and flexibility are essential.
    Reliable transportation required.
