Zeiterion Presents Emmy-Winning Comedian “Judy Gold,” March 1

The Zeiterion Performing Arts Center welcomes comedian, actor, writer, host and big mouth Judy Gold on Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. The veteran comic who has been on some of the funniest television and Off-Broadway shows will perform stand-up as part of the Zeiterion’s intimate Stage Door Live series where the audience is seated on stage with the performer. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling 508-994-2900, online at Zeiterion.org, or at the Zeiterion Box Office. Gold has guest starred on Comedy Central’s “Broad City” and “Inside Amy Schumer,” Netflix’s “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” TBS’ “Search Party,” Hulu’s “Difficult People,” NBC’s “30 Rock,” ABC’S “Celebrity Wife Swap,” CBS’s “2 Broke Girls,” ABC Family’s “Melissa & Joey,” the series finale of Showtime’s “The Big C,” and OWN’s “Herlarious.” She has appeared on and has co-hosted “The View” and “Anderson Live,” and she appears frequently on “The View” and “The Wendy Williams Show.” Gold has also starred on “Rachel vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off” on TFN and competed on “Chopped All-Stars” (don’t ask), and she can be seen in the film “This is Where I Leave You.” She has also appeared on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, “The Conan O’Brien Show,” and “Hollywood Squares.”

Gold’s stand-up specials include “Comedy Central Presents: Judy Gold,” Comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd Stands Up,” and her own HBO half-hour special, for which she received The Cable Ace Award. Gold was seen in the smash hit film The Aristocrats and the documentaries “Making Trouble” and “I am Comic.” She was the host of HBO’s “At the Multiplex with Judy Gold” from 1999 to 2009, and also hosted Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time” and the GLAAD MEDIA AWARDS, which aired on LOGO and VH1. She stars in a half-hour comedy special for LOGO and is featured in the HBO documentary, “All Aboard!”

Gold is also known as the star of her two critically acclaimed, long-running Off-Broadway hit shows. Her most recent show, The Judy Show – My Life As A Sitcom, ran to sold-out audiences during The Geffen Playhouse’s 2013 season and during The DR2 Theatre’s 2011-2012 season. Gold was nominated for the 2012 Outer Critics Circle Award for The Judy Show, as well as a 2006 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance for her previous show, 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother. In addition, that show won the 2007 GLAAD award for Outstanding New York Theater. The New York Times called this one-woman show “fiercely funny, honest and moving.” A book based on the show was nominated for the prestigious Quill Award.

Gold has also been in the cast of Nora and Delia Ephron’s Off-Broadway play Love, Loss and What I Wore and co-starred in the hit Off-Broadway show Disaster! She can be seen regularly on “truTV Presents: World’s Dumbest,” and she recently appeared on TFN’s “The Next Food Network Star” and on TLC’s “The Next Great Baker.” Gold is also the host of the Funny People series at the 92nd St. Y and is a frequent contributor to The Moth. Her Kill Me Now podcast is one of the most popular with viewers.

Gold won two Emmy Awards for writing and producing “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.” She was nominated twice for The American Comedy Award’s funniest female stand-up, and she has written for The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Wondertime Magazine, Momlogic.com, and The Advocate. Gold is an instructor at ESPA Primary Stages, where she teaches Solo Performance.

Gold lives in New York City with her two children. She frequently tours theatres and comedy clubs around the country. Her CD, Judith’s Roommate Had a Baby, is currently available.
