Zeiterion Performing Arts Center brings an exciting line-up for its 2018-2019 season, including world-class talent, widely requested performances, and familiar faces like Arlo Guthrie, Bernadette Peters, Darlene Love, David Crosby, W. Kamau Bell presented by New Bedford Lyceum, and more. The slate of more than 60 performances includes several back by popular demand, like David Crosby, Arlo Guthrie, and Bernadette Peters, who had rescheduled last season’s appearance to star in Hello, Dolly on Broadway. Also this season are shows that have previously sold out quickly, like Get the Led Out, The Price is Right Live, and Tower of Power, as well as shows with familiar tunes by show-stopping talent, like The Greatest Love of All: The Whitney Houston Show, The Choir of Man, and Meat Loaf’s Neverland Band featuring American Idol winner Caleb Johnson, as well as best-in-class performers, like Trey MacLaughlin & The Sounds of Zamar, Blackberry Smoke, and Carlos do Carmo with Ana Sofia Varela.
Theater fans won’t want to miss Peters, The World of Musicals, Winston Churchill: The Blitz, and national tours of Legally Blonde, The Musical and Something Rotten! Extravaganzas include Drumline Live, iLuminate, and Christmas Wonderland Holiday Spectacular, and comic showcase Boston Comedy Jam 2 hosted by Lenny Clarke, social media sensation One Funny Mother and political satirists The Capitol Steps will have the audience laughing out loud. For those with an appreciation of the bueaty of movement, there’s The New Chinese Acrobats, Ballet Hispánico and David Dorfman Dance. Several free discussion support the dance performances, including one with guest speaker Shura Baryshnikov, daughter of famous parents Mikail Baryshnikov and Jessica Lange.
“This season’s line-up offers a variety of performances to suit different tastes, whether you visit The Z for a show that features music, dance, theater, or comedy,” said Rosemary Gill, Executive Director, Programming and Development. “Each of these shows brings an audience together for a shared experience. There is no better place than a live theater and no better vehicle than the arts to remind us of our need to connect and have fun.”
