Woman drives to Walmart in stolen vehicle to allegedly steal from unlocked vehicles

On Friday, March 9th at approximately 9:00 am, Wareham PD patrol officers responded to Walmart when a caller reported noticing a female attempting to enter vehicles in the parking lot by checking for unlocked doors. Officers Blaise Lalli and Charles Pillsbury arrived and confronted the female, who was apparently rummaging through a toolbox on the back of a pickup truck, the owner of which arrived on scene and confirmed the unknown female had broken into the truck and stolen items before entering the rear tool compartment.

While checking the area, officers noticed a second vehicle parked near the pickup truck had also been entered and had items removed by the female, who was identified as 37-year-old Christine Erickson of 52 Popes Point Rd. in Carver, MA.

During the subsequent investigation by responding officers and Detective Dean Decas, information came to light that Ms. Erickson drove to Walmart in a Ford Escape that had been reported stolen from a driveway in Middleboro earlier in the day. The stolen vehicle was recovered in the Walmart parking lot.

Christine Erickson, age 37, has been charged with 2 counts of B&E into a Motor Vehicle, Larceny Under $250, and Receiving Stolen Property (Motor Vehicle). She will also face criminal charges from Middleboro PD regarding the stolen Ford Escape vehicle.
